The 2011 Lopez Spotlight Talent Competition Auditions

The Metro area’s premiere Vocal Talent Competition

The Spotlight Talent Competition
The Lopez Spotlight Talent Competition was established as a premiere vocal competition in search of the BEST vocal talent in the Washington Metropolitan area. The goal of this yearly competition is to provide exposure to aspiring performers that will perhaps lead to the launch of many future careers. Click here to read how it all began. This year we are excited to announce that the Grand Finale Winner will receive The American Idol Dream Ticket in addition to other great prizes.

Audition Requirements
The Spotlight Talent Competition is open to residents of the Washington Metropolitan area to include Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC. Entrants must be ages 15-28 as of July 15, 2011. Additional Terms and Conditions apply. The deadline to sign-up for a “live” audition or submission via YouTube is May 2, 2011 and June 22, 2011.

How to Audition
Entrants will be required to prepare and perform a 90 second portion (max) of a song of their choice. All songs must be sung acapella (no accompaniment) and must not go over 90 seconds. Only one audition per performer is permitted per year. These auditions are for solo performers only. Duets and group numbers will not be accepted. There is a non refundable $10 Audition Fee per entrant. Entrants will have one of 2 ways to audition for the competition:

Live Audition—Best Option
Entrants will audition “live” at Lopez Studios, Inc. Performing Arts Preparatory School where they will perform their song in front of a panel of 3 judges. The “live” auditions will be held on Saturday, May 7th (10AM-6PM) and Saturday, June 25th (10AM-6AM). Entrants who sign-up for the “live” audition will be notified of their audition time via email and will be given a (1) hour window in which their audition will take place. “Live” auditions will be scheduled on a first come first “sign-up” basis.  When all “live” audition slots are full, entrants will be required to utilize the YouTube Submission option. Entrants should arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled audition time. Entrants MUST sign-up in advance for their audition by the deadline. Walk-ins will not be accepted. See below to sign-up for your “live” audition.

YouTube Submission
Entrants who are not able to attend the scheduled “live” audition date or who prefer to submit a video clip of their performance may submit a YouTube Clip of their song for their audition. A panel of judges will review the YouTube Clip as if it were a “live” audition. The same above audition requirements apply. See below to submit your “YouTube” audition.

The Audition Process & Grand Finale
Our industry panel of judges will review and consider all “Live” auditions and “Youtube” submissions.  8 singers (finalists) will be selected to compete at the Lopez Spotlight Grand Finale (scheduled for sometime in July 2011) and perform in front of a live audience. The Grand Finale Winner will be selected by a panel of judges as well as by audience vote and will be named the 2011 Spotlight Grand Finale Winner! Finalists will be judged on natural talent, vocal abilities, stage presence, and commercial appeal. The winner will receive the American Idol Dream Ticket and other great cash prizes! All entrants will be notified of their status no later than June 30th! The finalists will also be performing several group numbers at the Grand Finale and will be required to participate in intense rehearsals in early July!
